Big news!  The North Seattle Boys & Girls Club RECEIVED THE MATCHING FUND AWARD!!   $80,000 was awarded, which will enable us to construct a plaza in the front of the club as the new bike path goes in, and shines a bright light on summer youth programming at the club.  Here's the article in the Ballard News Tribune!

"MAKE THE CUT"  idea`09  BENEFIT & SILENT AUCTION: 

4pm-9pm Mondays July 13th & 20th  

@ Steven Cole Salon 8408 Greenwood Ave. N. Seattle WA 98103 (July 13th) & Greenwood Academy of Hair 8501 Greenwood Ave. N. Seattle WA 98103 (July 20th).  "Make The Cut," is a creative benefit event involving over fifteen Greenwood businesses, art exhibitions, silent auctions and services by Steven Cole Salon and Greenwood Academy of Hair.  Hair cuts, highlights, color, brow arches, skin care*, and other preferred services will be provided at cost with 100% of the  proceeds benefiting the new idea`09 summer arts camp at The North Seattle Boys & Girls Club.  The event will also include door prizes, hors d'oeuvers compliments of Olive You & The Upper Crust, as well as a silent auction featuring art and photography by local artists, and gift certificates for neighborhood restaurants and shops.  *Skin care service provided for "Make the Cut" available at Greenwood Academy location only.

youth cycle: discovering connections teen studio:  cultivating creativity

Welcome!  We're excited you've discovered idea`09, a dynamic summer 

arts and environment focussed camp for Youth & Teens hosted by 

The North Seattle Boys & Girls Club  206.784.5396  8635 Fremont  Ave. N. Seattle, WA 98103   

 

To kick off the summer and wrap it up, the club is hosting two weeks of classic Boys & Girls Club Summer Programming during the weeks of June 22nd-June 26th & August 24-28th!

idea`camp runs June 29th - August 21sproviding Youth ages 6-12 & Teens ages 13-19 an engaging eye opening summer spent inventing & designing a wide spectrum of environmental art with professional artists, architects, business owners & volunteers!

Workshops are 2hrs, scheduled M-F 10am-noon & 1pm-3pm, with an early care option from 7am-10am + free Friday teen night activities!

Each dynamic week = $75      &      early care =$15 a day.                                                                       ($80 reserves your spot, if submitted by May 15th)

We're currently at half capacity and continuing to register participants for the entire 8 weeks,    so don't wait to complete your on-line application, and spread the news that there is an affordable engaging summer camp in north seattle that offers youth and teens:

workshops in:  graphic design, digital photography fieldtrips, world crafts, eco-challenges, jewelry and purse making, culinary arts, music recording, ceramics, green living, e-biz = how to start an on-line art store, web-based audio/visual/literary portfolios, field trips to local art venues and artist studios, use of a new 10' x 25' greenhouse and bicycle studio! WHEW! 

Because idea` is a pilot program, its activation was contingent upon pre-paid deposit/reservation of a minimum of 16 idea` participants.  We have met our goal, so idea`09 camp has been activated!  We are currently at half our capacity, so thank you for continuing to encourage guardians of youth and teens you know to consider participating in idea`09 this summer!
